The server (currently the proto-3 incarnation of), Syntelos SX, implements only post processing. The thick client permits the server to support many more concurrent sessions, and provides a nice user experience.

The applet flickers really badly. Normal double buffering techniques didn't fix it in a portable way (for example, see this code) -- but it works really nice on MacOSX.

The end of the user experience is really rotten in that there's no print button, just a popup which plenty of people miss. In its next iteration it needs to solve this one.
